Launch of the SDCE Digital Civic Engagement MOOC and Open Education Resources

The Students as Digital Civic Engagers (SDCE) consortium is glad to announce the official publication of the Digital Civic Engagement MOOC and Open Education Resources.

The tools are part of the outputs of this EU-funded project coordinated by the University of Vienna, in which eucen participates as full partner.

The Digital Civic Engagement Syllabus and OERs consist of a complete set of resources designed to provide educators and academic staff with complete resources for introducing civic engagement, and a means to engage students in real-life examples that are relevant to their topic of study. As higher education can be carried out in different environments (continuing education, under-graduate & postgraduate), the OERs have been designed so that educators can use them in a very flexible way and edit them according to their needs. The OERs and their pedagogic guide – designed to aid educators on how to use the OERs – can be downloaded on the project website at this link.

The Digital Civic Engagement MOOC, based on the OERs, provides students and staff with an additional space in which to develop their digital civic engagement. It aims to increase digital skills and civic engagement knowledge to empower students to become confident civic engagers through the use of digital technologies. The MOOC is compiled to pass independently. It can be accessed through the project’s website, from the Resources section > Online Course.

Visit the project’s website to read more about these two resources and the SDCE project.
