Explore the 5P-Competences Frame of Reference & Competence Framework on Sustainability Skills in Adult Education
The 5P-Competences project has finished two main outputs tailored to understanding the needs of education for sustainable development (ESD) in adult education. The Conceptual Frame of Reference and the Competence Framework are both available on the website of 5P-Competences.

The Conceptual Frame of Reference of developmental tasks defines ESD competence categories which are relevant for sustainable development in the field of adult education.

The action-oriented Competence Framework support teaching staff in adult education in defining non-formal and informal ESD learning contents and to develop ESD-relevant events and courses, oriented to the developmental tasks of learners.

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is recognized as an element of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on quality education and means to empower learners of all ages with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to face global challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, poverty and inequality. This means that adult education must play a major role in ESD and requires a competence framework to cope with consequences of the climate change and its impacts on the social and economic systems of countries.

Further information on the project can be found on the 5P-Competences website.
