New Perspectives of Professional Education in Poland. Gdańsk, 19 June 2012.

The University of Gdańsk and the Foundation for the Development of the Education System invite you to this conference.

Conference aims:

According to the act, ‘Higher Education Law’ and the introduction of the National Qualification Framework for Lifelong Learning  to the Polish legal system (KRK), educational frameworks, as  well as the organisation of studies, should maintain one of the two profiles: ‘general academic’ or ‘practical’. Especially the latter has recently been the centre of attention in the academic circles. On the one hand, our higher education entities perceive the orientation on practical aspects
as the danger for their academic status and the sign of the ongoing ‘professionalisation’. On the other hand, the interest in this form of education is constantly increasing. However, many doubts, especially of the organisational and financial nature, are being raised. The most frequent questions centre around the subject: How to define ‘practical profile’ with reference to the model of typically academic studies and how should this idea be understood in consideration of the existing traditions and the new tendencies. Another vital issue concerns the interpretation of the new legal regulations and the way in which they should be introduced in order to make the  practice- oriented model of studies profitable for all the entities deciding on this solution. There is also the task whether the practice-oriented education can be treated as a long- awaited complementation of the vocational training. The aim of the conference is to discuss these issues and to acquaint the participants with some practical solutions recommended by the experts and currently practiced by some Polish higher education entities.

Participants:

Academic teachers, employers and other persons interested in the issues connected with the reform of higher education, in particular in creating practice- oriented educational frameworks and in the organisation of studies in the same spirit.

  • Participation in the conference is free of charge.
  • Travel and accommodation need to be covered by participants.
