The conference, "Closing the Knowledge Divide: HE for Underrepresented Groups in the Market Economy" will re-examine the role of HEIs in a knowledge-based economy; assess the impact of a market-oriented HE on underrepresented groups when students are regarded as 'clients'; discuss the funding mechanisms for the entrepreneurial university and how these might affect institutional autonomy, efficiency and quality; explore the potential of new technologies in widening access.
