Twice a year (spring and autumn) EUCEN organises a conference in partnership with one of its full member universities on a topical theme. Representatives from universities, government and the business world come together to debate current issues, to exchange best practice and innovation, and to network. Each conference is held in a different country so that members have an opportunity to learn about the local, regional and national conditions and the specialised expertise of the host university. For the hosts it is an opportunity to benefit from the accumulated collective experience of EUCEN members and to use their presence as a catalyst for further development locally.
The two conferences have a slightly different format. Both begin with a presentation on the current local university, regional and national debates and developments in ULLL. Both also continue to provide plenty of opportunities to network and make new contacts.
- The spring conferences has the format of a traditional conference, with a wide range of individual contributions in the form of plenary sessions and a number of short workshops on a particular theme.
- The autumn conferences are an opportunity to work in greater depth over a longer period on a particular topic from a list of around 4 options. The primary aim of this format is to offer services to our members. This is done by organising training and staff development sessions, spaces for preparation of new proposals, integration of the LLL week during the event, study visits, etc.
