What are the benefits of EUCEN membership?
The main benefits of EUCEN membership are access to people, access to information and representation in the policy making process.
Membership is institutional, not individual, so that the benefits outlined below are available to all members of staff in your university, not just the named representative.
Access is provided through:
- These web pages
- Printed materials
- EUCEN conferences
- The oportunity to participate in projects
- The oportunity to obtain support for your own projects
- Working groups and task forces
- The expertise of the network
Representation is provided through:
- EUCEN's presence at events organised and/or supported by the European Commission
- EUCEN's meetings with the DG Education and Culture
- Members of the Steering Committee regularly representing EUCEN at a wide range of policy discussion, meetings and activities
- Individuals in member universities who represent EUCEN on specific committees
- Links with EUA, EAEA, EUCIS, ENQA, EURASH, ESU, EDEN and many other European associations and networks
The administration:
EUCEN administrative offices are located in Barcelona. The Executive Office has three units:
- The Services and Events Unit
- The Finance Unit
- The Projects Unit
The Executive Office is available between Monday and Friday to provide further information on any aspect of membership and the services provided by EUCEN. Do not hesitate to contact us.
EUCEN membership is institutional: all universities within geographical Europe, that deliver the highest academic degree in their country are eligible for Full Membership.
In May 2011 EUCEN had a total of 222 members:
- 155 Full Members
- 19 Associate Members
- 38 Affiliate Members
EUCEN is present in 43 different countries around the world.
Which are the types of Membership?
According to current Statutes:
- Universities in geographical Europe able to award the highest diploma in their country can apply for Full Membership.
- Networks or Associations concerned with university lifelong learning located in geographical Europe can apply for Full Membership.
- Universities from countries outside geographical Europe can apply for Associate Membership.
- Universities or prestigious institutions of Higher Education in geographical Europe awarding Master Degrees can apply for Associate Membership.
- Other lifelong learning organisations with legal statues and individuals concerned with lifelong leraning networks can apply for Affiliate Membership.
How can my University or Organisation join EUCEN?
You only need to fill in our application form. Please, make sure the Rector or President of your university or organisation signs it and sends it to the EUCEN Executive Office (the address is on the application).
The annual fee for Full Members* is 450 Euros in 2011.
The annual fee for Associate Members is 410 Euros in 2011.
The arrangement for Affiliate Members depends on the organisation and is negotiated on a case by case basis – usually it involves mutual membership without payment on either side.
