EUCEN has received support from the European Commission since 2003 in the form of an Operating Grant (i.e. a total of 4 grants since 2003 covering all the years between 2003 and 2009). These operating grants have helped EUCEN to fund its core activity and, thus, to enhance its services to members. They have also helped EUCEN to provide the networking infrastructure that is a precondition for bringing about the developments necessary to promote economic competitiveness and employability, to extend lifelong learning opportunities in higher education, to combat social exclusion and to develop the cultural life of citizens and communities.

The latest grant received was to cover part of EUCEN activities during 2009 (Agreement number 2009-0816/001-001). One of the activities that has specifically covered this grant is the creation of EUCEN's new web site and the update of the contents in EUCEN's Observatory for ULLL.
